Aircraft. Ecuatoriana presents new livery
It will be active again in October after about 15 years
It has been several months since the indiscretion turned into something more official. 14 years after the last operations, everything is ready to brush up on the brand of the air carrier Empresa Ecuatoriana de Aviación, better known as Ecuatoriana and take advantage of a new name, namely Ecuatoriana Airlines. In the last few hours, the South American company presented the real brand and the new livery, a sign that the countdown is practically over. The debut was scheduled for next October, although the conditional is still a must. According to the general manager, Eduardo Delgado, Ecuatoriana will try to fill the gap left by the virus. The main competitors will be Avianca and Latam, specifically their local divisions. The fleet is expected to consist of Bombardier Dash 8 Q-400 and Boeing 717/200, initially focused on regional hub connections. A project of this kind in the time of the coronavirus would undoubtedly be welcome, but the impression of many Ecuadorian citizens, and not only, is that it would risk being short-lived. The connections will concern the main cities; in addition to the capital, places such as Cuenca, Esmeraldas, Guayaquil, Santa Rosa and Tulcan are included to name a few. The old carrier was founded in 1957 and remained active until 2006. Seven years ago there was talk of this project aimed at reviving the company. To speed up the whole process, the bankruptcy of another national airline, Tame, was closed by the Government due to significant losses.
