Aircraft and airlines. The debut of Play, new Icelandic carrier, is approaching

It will take over from Wow Air

More than two years have passed since the carrier Wow Air decided to cease its operations (read also the article published by AVIONEWS). Iceland wanted to focus on a top-level low-cost company, it is a pity that the adventure lasted very little, to be precise from May 2012 to March 2019. Now the time is ripe to replace this reality that no longer exists. The Scandinavian Nation's airline industry is not doing well at all, with Icelandair still active, but in small ranks and with limited ambitions. Wow's successor has a very specific name, that is Play, as well as a livery. The motto used by Iceland to overcome the economic crisis of 2008, "everything works out", is once again very topical, despite the fact that the fleet is rather downsized. We are talking about a single aircraft, an A-321-neo, but over the next Summer the total could also grow and the programs are interesting. Indeed, the aim is to ensure coverage of air connections with London. Play can boast its own operator certificate, which means that the debut could take place shortly. There are those who speak of next June 24 as the most probable date in this sense, even if official confirmations will have to wait a few more days. In addition to the British capital, future destinations should include cities such as Barcelona, Tenerife, Alicante, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Berlin. In about a month everything will undoubtedly be clearer.
