India is ready to launch the Eos-03 Earth observation satellite, which will be put into orbit through the GSLV-F10 launcher (where GSLV stands for Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle), from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center, off the coast of the Bay of Bengal, in the Shar project settlement. The launch is tentatively scheduled based on weather conditions, at 5:45 am tomorrow Thursday 12 August.

GSLV-F10 will launch the satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit; the latter will then reach final geostationary orbit using its onboard propulsion system. Tomorrow will be the fourteenth flight of the Indian launcher, and the first with a 4-meter-diameter nose cone-shaped payload fairing used to protect the spacecraft.

EOS-03 is an "agile and cutting-edge" Earth observation satellite, writes the national press today, quoting a note from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). It is built and operated by ISRO itself for purposes useful for agriculture, forestry, and for the prevention and management of natural disasters. Its life will last for ten years.
