EasyJet will have a new president from the end of 2021
Stephen Hester, formerly head of RBS and Rsa, will replace John Barton
Stephen Hester, former CEO of NatWest Group (namely Rbs Group, Royal Bank of Scotland), and more recently CEO of the British insurance group Rsa, will be the new president of British low-cost easyJet. Hester as early as next September will join the board of directors of the air carrier with the role of non-executive director, and then assume the position as president starting from December 1st 2021, succeeding John Barton, who will resign after almost nine years in the role.
Hester has more than 35 years of experience in a wide range of business sectors, including British Land real estate and Swiss bank Credit Suisse.
Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet, was enthusiastic about the new entry "at such an important moment in our history", that is the post-pandemic, but he did not fail to thank the outgoing Barton for his "wise leadership" .
