Russian Su-30SM aircraft arrived in Belarus

They will be used to create a joint air training center

Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces have arrived in Belarus, where they will contribute to the creation of a joint training center for the air and defense forces of the two States. This was announced today by the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry through its "Telegram" channel. "The Su-30SM aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces arrived at the Baranovichi Air Base for the establishment of the joint training center of the Russian and Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense", the statement said. It is also expected that the pilots of the two countries will carry out joint reconnaissance of the air borders of the States of the Union. The Su-30SM is a multi-role fighter aircraft developed by JSC Sukhoi Design Bureau for the Russian Air Force. It is an advanced derivative of the Su-30MK family of fighter aircraft.

On 28 August, again as part of the project, Russian air defense missile units were deployed in the Belarusian territory of Grodno. The decision to set up a joint training center was taken during talks between the defense ministers of the two Nations last March 5. In reality, the project envisages a total of three training centers: in addition to the one in Belarus, the other two will be located in the Russian regions of Nizhny Novgorod and Kaliningrad.

Furthermore, in two days the 2021 edition of "Zapad", the most important joint Russian-Belarus military exercise, will start every four years. It will last a week, it will begin on September 10, and from Russia it foresees, among other things, the participation of about thirty fighter planes, helicopters and other types of aircraft (see AVIONEWS).
