Russia certifies new Ka-62 helicopter

It's a low-consumption civil aircraft with fenestron and five blades

Rosaviatsiya, the Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport, has recently issued the type approval certificate for the new civil helicopter Kamov Ka-62 developed by Russian Helicopters, the company controlled by the State through Rostec. This means that the aircraft is as of now on the Russian market.

"Starting next year we plan to start large-scale commercial production of this helicopter and supplies to Russian operators. In 2022-2024 we will work to further expand the aircraft's capabilities through certification of optional equipment: external cargo sling, winch, medical module, anti-ice system", said the Russian manufacturer.

The Kamov Ka-62 is a multi-role aircraft designed to meet Russian and international safety standards. It has a pentapala main rotor and a fenestron tail rotor. The manufacturer claims a range of 700 km, a top speed of 310 km/h, a carrying capacity of up to 2.5 tons and a takeoff weight of 6800 kg. It can accommodate 15 passengers. It has modern avionics and is fuel efficient. Flight tests began in 2017 for a total duration of about 700 hours.
