Growing environmental alliance by Lufthansa Cargo

Db Schenker is joined by a technology company

The German alliance between logistics company Db Schenker and Lufthansa Cargo expands across borders and welcomes multinational technology company Lenovo, which will use low Co2-impact airline flights on the Shanghai-Frankfurt route. This is currently the world's only regular full charter route operated on 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (Saf). Through this agreement Lenovo will transport an average of 20 tons of laptops, notebooks and PCs each week, cutting approximately 78 tons of greenhouse gases.

“Our joint effort with DB Schenker to avoid CO2 emissions is continuously growing stronger. An increasing number of customers realizes that we need to work together across industries to achieve our shared goal. Only together, we can make a real difference. With our SAF-covered flights, we are doing pioneer’s work", said Lufthansa Cargo Chief Commercial Officer, Ashwin Bhat.

Db Schenker and Lufthansa Cargo started the first 100% Saf-powered full charter air cargo connection between Frankfurt and Shanghai in April 2021; a service that has now been extended to the Winter period as well. According to Lufthansa Cargo's estimates, the multinational technology company will thus be able to save around 20 tons of conventional kerosene per flight. The result: 62 fewer tons of greenhouse gases each week and a further 16 fewer from offsetting the production and transport of Saf.
