Belarus blames Ukraine for spy drone
Ambassador summoned. Minsk-Moscow military exercises continue
The executive branch of Belarus has officially protested against the Ukrainian government over an alleged violation of Minsk's airspace by a remotely piloted military aircraft. According to the Belarusian defense ministry a Kiev spy drone crossed the border and was intercepted and captured. The news arrives while the joint exercises between the Russian and Belarusian armies are proceeding fast.
The facts would date back to January 24, 2022, Minsk explains: "Hostile steps are deliberately causing an escalation of the situation in the region, which is not conducive to a civilian bilateral dialogue". For this reason, "on February 3, 2022, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus, Igor Kizim, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strongly protest in connection with the targeted launch of an unmanned aerial vehicle from Ukraine to the territory of Belarus", the Belarusian dicastery stated on the website.
