Helicopters: FAA approves flotation system for H-145

Already certified by Transport Canada and European Easa

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has recently certified a new emergency flotation system for use with H-145 helicopters. It is a device developed by the Canadian company Dart Aerospace and already approved by Transport Canada Civil Aviation (Tcca) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (Easa).

The flotation system consists of three sections with a varied design to ensure greater stability in the water. There are four rafts, two on each side, mounted externally. In the event of a problem, these inflate and reduce the weight of the helicopter on the water by 45%. The system was previously approved for the four-blade H-145 and EC-145 and can now also be used with the five-blade H-145.
