Russian State-owned technology company Rostec recently received a patent for its new cargo-cargo parachute. It is a system capable of delivering products and items in a fully automated mode. It does this through the use of Global Navigation Satellite System (Glonass) satellite technologies, the Russian counterpart to the US Global Positioning System (Gps).

"We have received a patent for a ‘smart’ cargo parachute system. The Juncker-DG-250 system is designed for landing from altitude up to 8,000 meters, and the landing error does not exceed 100 meters thanks to a satellite navigation systems. In addition, we have received a patent for all-purpose parachute cargo harness which, if need be, can help increase the payload of any parachute system to 500 kg", Rostec's executive director Oleg Yevtushenko said.

The launch system consists of a landing platform, as well as special equipment for fully automated guidance and flight. The technological parachute can be used to drop loads of up to 250 kg in guided mode through ground control systems.
