The development of the first South Korean military light attack helicopter Light Armed Helicopter (Lah) from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has passed an important test regarding operation in borderline weather conditions. In Canada, the aircraft was subjected to nine weeks of flight, takeoff and landing tests at an average temperature of -32 degrees Celsius. 

The test of exposure to low temperatures over a long period of time allows to verify the operational capabilities and normal functioning of the various equipment and the engine. Observed 165 parameters through a total of 40 flights, announced the South Korean Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), which said the tests were carried out in the territories of north-west Canada, near the Arctic. 

The KAI LAH helicopter is equipped with standard armaments consisting of a 20mm machine gun and four missiles. It is capable of flying at a maximum speed of 324 km/h. With this aircraft, Seoul aims to replace its aging fleet of rotary-wing aircraft such as MD-500s and Bell AH-1S Cobras. Development will be completed by the end of 2022.
