Ukrainian war: peace summit in Rome
Three-way summit between the delegations of Italy, United States and China
A peace summit between the United States and China held today in Rome in an attempt to find a diplomatic solution to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Washington sent a delegation to Italy led by National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, who meet with Chinese Foreign Ministry official, Yang Jiechi. Italian diplomatic advisor Luigi Mattiolo is present.
Although not officially communicated by Beijing diplomacy, the central theme of the confrontation is the war in Eastern Europe as Washington makes clear. Among the concerns of the United States is the fact that Beijing is amplifying Russian disinformation. At the moment the Dragon has declared itself neutral, promoting its own vision of the global order.
For Italy it is an opportunity of visibility to be exploited to show itself active in the search for a solution to the Russian-Ukrainian war and to strengthen its position in the challenge between the two main powers: United States and China.
