Moody's: demand for air transport remains strong

Fears of conflict widening or interruption of oil and gas exports

The US company Moody's, which specializes in financial research and analysis, has announced that the outlook for the global air transport sector remains positive. Indeed, despite the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict and rising fuel prices, airlines report that demand for travel remains strong or is strengthening, and this is true even in the markets that have been most affected.

However, the rating agency points out that an extension of the conflict to other countries or the interruption of oil and gas exports from Russia to Europe would have negative repercussions for the global economy and therefore also for airlines. Due to inflationary pressures Moody's expects a contraction in the expansion of the G-20 economies: from 4.3% (forecast in February 2022) to the current 3.6%.
