Ukrainian conflict: glimmers of peace

In Turkey steps forward in negotiations between Moscow and Kiev

Positive signs emerge from the peace talks between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine that took place yesterday in Istanbul, Turkey. The two parties reached an agreement on some points: Kiev would enter the European Union but not the Atlantic Alliance, Moscow would like the independence of Donbass and Crimea. In the meantime, a meeting between the presidents of the two countries is being worked out: the Russian Vladimir Putin and the Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky.

For Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan this is a diplomatic success, which brings the parties closer to the desired end of the conflict. The politician had never stopped condemning the attack on Ukraine, but refused to apply sanctions to Russia. A position if not ambiguous at least neutral, which on March 10 in Antalya had allowed to make a first big step towards peace, thanks to the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Ukraine, respectively Sergej Lavrov and Dimitri Kuleba

On the other hand, in spite of the announcement about the decrease of the Russian attacks on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities, this night the rain of missiles has continued: especially in the south, but also in the capital, where there is also an effective retreat of the Moscow Army.
