United States: stop mask requirement on airplanes

Biden administration decision after Florida court ruling

Stop to the obligation of the masks for the passengers on board of the US means of transport. The federal administration led by Joe Biden has suspended in these hours the duty for travelers to wear a personal protective equipment when boarding planes, trains and other public and private transport. This is a decision that comes just days after a Florida court judge issued a ruling.

US air carriers, as a result, have made it optional to wear face masks on planes. The communications managers of the major airlines have rushed to update the operational provisions on the flights they operate: among them United Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines.

"The US Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), the main federal health agency, has exceeded its prerogatives by imposing the requirement on planes, trains, subways and buses", ruled magistrate Kathryn Kimball Mizelle of the Tampa, Florida, court. The magistrate has established, therefore, that it is illegal the recent decision to extend for two weeks the obligation to wear masks on board of the means of transport.
