Start of the space mission with Samantha Cristoforetti

Launched rocket that will bring tonight astronaut aboard the ISS

It took off at 9:53am Italian time from Kennedy Space Center, in the United States, the Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Italian astronaut of the European Space Agency (ESA) Samantha Cristoforetti. The mission called "Minerva", which will last about six months, is directed towards the International Space Station (ISS) and is operated by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). 

The crew Crew-4 is composed, besides the Italian cosmonaut, by the commander Kjell Lindgren, the pilot Robert Hines and the mission specialist Jessica Watkins. The Crew Dragon Freedom capsule will dock with the orbiting station in the Italian night at 02:15am. For Samantha Cristoforetti is the second space mission on the international space station, after "Futura" which took place at the turn of 2014 and 2015.
