ITA Airways. Mef re-evaluates Certares offer
Exclusive negotiation with an American consortium has raised a fuss within the company

With the end of the exclusive negotiation obligations, which took place on 31 October, the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (Mef) studies the dossier and the unknowns on the privatization plan presented by the consortium led by the US investment fund Certares, together with the Air France-KLM and Delta Air Lines airlines. Situation that puts the Italian-German consortium MSC-Lufthansa back on track.
The former government led by the Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, decided on 31 August to negotiate exclusively with the American consortium the sale of the majority of the capital of the Italian airline. However, even then some experts considered the offer from an industrial point of view to be "weak": in fact, the airlines Air France-KLM and Delta Air Lines have mainly a commercial interest on the Italian market. So much so that the story has raised a fuss within the company, including the revocation of executive powers to the president Alfredo Altavilla, followed by the complaint to the civil court of Rome, and by an alleged dossier activity against some executives (and former) by ITA.
