Lazzerini (2): brand Alitalia will back to the skies
"A couple of interesting projects for the relaunch it on the aviation market"
The CEO of the national air carrier ITA Airways, Fabio Lazzerini, said yesterday that "a couple of interesting projects" are being studied for the relaunch of the old Alitalia brand, which will therefore "come back to the aviation market". The company had purchased it with a public offer of 90 million euros, which included the internet domain www.Alitalia.com.
"We bought the Alitalia brand in October 2021 and we are studying a couple of interesting projects on the brand. Now we are waiting for the possible and desirable conclusion of the negotiation with Lufthansa to share this project with them. But somehow it is a brand that will come back on the market", said the manager yesterday, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new pier at Terminal 1 at Rome-Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" airport.
In short, now the priority of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) is to close the agreement with the German company Lufthansa on the privatization of the Italian airline as soon as possible. Then the Alitalia brand will be reused, at least this is the will of the current management. In recent months there have been rumors of a possible use of the brand to challenge low-cost airlines: using the tricolor livery to operate regional flights at controlled fares.
