Green light from Washington on AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom

The government of the Czech Republic has had its request for the purchase, sale and modernization of six Bell AH-1Z Viper helicopters and three Bell UH-1Y Venom aircraft approved by the US State Department. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (Dsca) has estimated the value of the deal at 650 million dollars, an agreement that also includes the supply of assistance services and related components.

This deal aims to support US foreign policy and national security by enhancing the defense capabilities of an important partner of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which is playing a crucial role in ensuring peace and stability in Europe in a determining moment of the Russo-Ukrainian war.

The contract between Prague and Washington involves the American helicopter manufacturer Bell Helicopter Textron and General Electric, engine and component supplier. In fact, the order includes the purchase of 22 T-700 GE 401C propellers, as well as 14 Honeywell Embedded Global Positioning System inertial navigation systems, in addition to 4 M240 machine guns and 24 Arc-210 Comsec radios, communication equipment, electronic warfare, avionics equipment and logistical support.
