Philippine Airlines order for nine new planes

Towards company relaunch; deliveries expected between 2025 and 2027

Flagship carrier Philippine Airlines announced today it will order 9 new wide-body A-350/1000s to expand its fleet and route network. This is an important decision that testifies to the sudden increase in travel demand that characterizes the post-pandemic and that the company aims to intercept and satisfy with a new flight offer. Deliveries are expected between 2025 and 2027.

The new aircraft will operate the non-stop Manila-North America route, the airline's largest international market, including the East Coast of the United States and Canada. The other aircraft will also be used on long-haul intercontinental destinations. A signal that Philippine Airlines, after the risk of bankruptcy in 2021, is regaining strength.

According to international media reports, the Philippine airline has also signed a purchase option with the Airbus Group for three more A-350/1000 aircraft, with the aim of further expanding long-haul routes to new destinations. However, the Memorandum of Undestanding (MoU) signed by Philippine Airlines is waiting to be finalized in the coming weeks or months.
