STOLEN TWO-THIRDS OF A CHINESE AIRPORT LIGHT BEACONS

SHANTOU, CHINA, Chinese airport of Shantou, in Guandong province, experienced a very particular and dangerous theft: 69 landing light beacons (two-thirds of the ones on the runway) have been taken away from the head of the runway. It took about $50.000 and 12 hours (in which the airport was closed to air traffic) to restore airport's working.
