MAP LAUNCHED SATURDAY TO MONITOR BIG BANG AFTERGLOW

CAPE CANAVERAL, Nasa's MAP, Microwave Anisotropy Probe, blasted off at 3:46 p.m. EDT Saturday aboard a Delta 2 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The probe will look for the oldest light in the universe in attempt to give an explanation for the history and destiny of the universe by composing a full-sky montage of radiation from the edges of the physical universe.
