In view of the urgent need by the Bundeswehr for a high altitude, unmanned reconnaissance system, EADS has signed a letter of intent with Northrop Grumman and they have also set up a joint working group to examine how the Global Hawk system could be modified to meet the particular requirements of the Bundeswehr, and perhaps, at a later stage, those of other European partners.
